Tips from our Tennis Pro ... John Ingles

Q:  Who should hit the lob when both my tennis partner and I are at the net and our opponent
hits a lob?

If you can hit the lob in the air, call "Mine," and hit the overhead. If the lob is going to bounce
behind you, call "Yours," and let your tennis partner take it. He will have an easier shot
because he will be angling towards it and will be able to see the other side.

You, on the other hand, would have to turn your back, find the ball and get to it but be far
enough away so you could have a swing. Even if you do all this, you will probably still have a
blind shot. Remember, if you call "Yours," you immediately switch to cover your partners side.

With a shaded rest area and
a water fountain for every
court, a fence separating
each court, two hitting walls,
and never a fee for tennis, our
twelve courts make the
Rainberry Bay Tennis Center
one of the finest in Palm
Beach County.
Courts are assigned by lottery and posted on our TV channel 63.

House guests (overnight guests) may play with residents and
have the same priority for courts as residents. Day guests playing
with residents are assigned the last courts available. At no time is
there a fee for court time.

Men who are members of the Tennis Club may sign up on a
'board" found in the Pro shop at least 48 hours in advance,
indicating the date and time they wish to play and they will be
assigned a game.

The "Board" may be used to meet and arrange games with others
of equal skill, to play when your regular opponents are not
available, or, as many men do, to play all their games through the
"board."
