Steve Goldberg publishes a weekly column in his web-journal, "On the
Upside." He has given his permission for MyRainberryBay.com to provide a
link to this informative, uplifting journal.
There are many uplifting articles to read and a way to sign up for receiving
his weekly column in your e-mail. Having experienced a "conversation" with
Steve, I can attest to the inspirational effect of his insights. We are fortunate to
have Steve (a relatively new neighbor) as an active contributor to our
Brainberry U program.
“Education is for improving the lives of others and for leaving your community
and world better than you found it.”
    -Marian Wright Edelman
Who doesn't remember the famous 1990's TV show, DRAGNET, with Sergeant Joe Friday.
When interviewing, he would begin with, "Just the facts, Ma'm, just the facts". Well here are
just the facts for what's happening in December at
Brainberry U.

For our film lovers, Movie Critique begins on Fri, Dec 2 at 10:30 in the CR. Lydia
Axelrod is back and asks that you see "The Ides of March
." During the frantic last days
before a heavily contested Ohio presidential primary, an up-and
-coming idealistic
campaign press secretary finds himself involved in a political scandal that threatens to
upend his candidate's shot at the presidency.

I can't wait for the Opera. This month,
Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 1:30 in the Theater, Lawrence
brings us, "The Magic Flute
." Endlessly inventive, charmingly, fantastically and utterly
unique, Mozart's final opera is a profound yet lighthearted tale of romantic love,
spiritual
transcendence and the beguiling art of
bird catching. With its extraordinary variety of
wonderful music it delivers the life-aff
irming message: love conquers all.

Wednesday, Dec. 21, at 7:30pm in the clubhouse, Lawrence Johnson continues with
the second in our Literature Series of "Revisiting the Classics
." We'll be looking at "The
Merchant of
Venice," Shakespeare's most controversial and troublesome play constructed
around opposite value systems or world views. Comedy or Tragedy? Remember, you do
not have to have read the book.
